Special Message from CEO Cathy Pace
Future Planning: The Personal Kind
More than 45 years ago, I began my professional career at the Reynolds Carolina Federal Credit Union, the predecessor to Allegacy. It was there—first as a teller, then as a switch board operator—that I first built relationships with members and came to understand the critical role a credit union plays in advancing wellbeing and strengthening communities wherever our members live and work.
Now, after ten years as Allegacy’s CEO, I am following the advice we have given to so many Allegacy members, having planned for my own retirement and forged a new path to continued wellbeing and a purpose-filled future. Today, I announced my plan to retire, effective January 1, 2025. Though that date seems far away, I wanted to give our 400+ Allegacy employees time to absorb the news and look forward to welcoming a new CEO. There will be a comprehensive search to find the best fit for our credit union. This person will lead Allegacy forward in the promise of continued prosperity.
Our Board of Directors has overwhelmingly expressed their confidence in the leadership team currently in place to guide Allegacy through a smooth transition. Our team of executives are highly educated, caring individuals and fully engaged professionals who work together with our partners to ensure that our members have access to the most innovative products and services. Our shared mission to always do the right thing for our members’ wellbeing has created a culture that is sustainable through any leadership change.
I have had the privilege of getting to know so many of you over the years, not only because you are Allegacy members, but because I’ve been engaged with dozens of community organizations and charitable causes. That will not change. My devotion to this community keeps me rooted right here, and I will continue to focus my energy on helping you, your family and your neighbors thrive in the years ahead.
Thank you for your support throughout my tenure and for your continued membership. When the time comes, I know you will help our staff and Board warmly welcome Allegacy’s next leader.
