Allegacy Federal Credit Union is hosting the 25th Annual DW Benefit Golf Tournament at Bermuda Run Country Club in Bermuda Run, NC on Thursday, October 3rd, 2024.

To date, the tournament has provided over $1.39 million to Cancer Services, Inc., a local United Way agency established “to enhance the quality of life for those living with cancer, and to provide the gift of life through education.” The agency serves cancer survivors with any type of cancer and offers services and programs at no cost to cancer survivors and their families.

Early detection is the best defense.

The story starts in 1998, when three of our team members were diagnosed with breast cancer. Around the same time, our CEO and President lost a close friend to ovarian cancer as well.

The “Don’t Wait” (DW) was born the next year. We began hosting the tournament to bring awareness to the importance of early detection, sending the proceeds to Cancer Services, Inc.

Since then, we’ve raised $1.39 million. The money benefits patients, survivors and caregivers directly, providing financial assistance, medical supplies, special programs, advocacy and more at no cost to the patient. The funds also benefit women in our community who want to know about cancer prevention and techniques for early detection.

Cancer Services is a local United Way agency, which was established “to enhance the quality of life for those living with cancer, and to provide the gift of life through education.” Allegacy is proud to support cancer survivors and their families in this way.

Be involved. Support the good.

How do we express our concern for the community? By rolling up our sleeves and getting involved – not just because it feels good to give (though it does) – but because it’s the right thing to do. We will always do what’s right for your wellbeing, and for the health of our community as a whole.
