EMV Chip
All Allegacy Visa Cards have EMV chip technology. Chip cards are safer than traditional magnetic strip cards because the data stored in a chip is much harder to access than data on a traditional payment card.
Tokenization
Our cards also offer tokenization technology which allows merchants to store a temporary token to process payments instead of storing your account number. This prevents exposing your 16-digit card number in the event of a compromise.
Tokenization is used when a consumer enrolls with a digital payment service such as Apple Pay, Android Pay, or Samsung Pay, then uses these services to make purchases. Once enrolled, the consumer is ready to make safer purchases anytime he/she initiates a transaction.
How does it work?
When a purchase is initiated, the merchant sends the token to the payment service acquirer. The token is then routed through the processing system for approval, thus eliminating the need for the card number to travel through various processing points. The token can be limited to a specific mobile device, merchant or a limited number of purchases before expiring.
